A few things to know

The walk to the cabin

a walk in the nature to the cabin

We are often asked why cars can't be driven closer to the cabins. This decision is intentional and stems from our deep commitment to preserving the environment. The constant movement of vehicles can have a negative impact on the surroundings we cherish.

We prioritize creating a harmonious connection with nature. By keeping the area around the cabins car-free, we ensure that your experience remains serene and undisturbed, allowing you to fully embrace the tranquility and beauty of the natural environment.

Moreover, Terracabins is not a typical hotel. Guests come here seeking a unique, immersive experience in nature. The walk to your cabin through the natural landscape is an integral part of this experience. It may seem inconvenient at first, but trust us, it will ultimately enhance your stay.

Walking in nature offers numerous benefits. It is a simple yet powerful way to improve your physical, emotional, and mental health, contributing to an overall sense of well-being. We believe this experience will leave you feeling refreshed and revitalized.

To help you, we have prepared a parking site where you can leave your car safely. At the parking site, there is a torch for those arriving at night and a trolley to help carry your bags. You can find the distance from the parking site to your cabin on the cabin’s page. From there simply follow the arrow signs to you cabin.

What to bring

Packing appropriately is crucial to ensure that you have everything you need to enjoy your experience to the fullest. First, it is essential to check the weather conditions before you leave and pack accordingly. Usually, countryside regions are hot during the day in the summer season and nights can get cold. Therefore, lightweight and breathable clothing is crucial. During the winter season it can get cold during the day and nights, and also rainy once in a while. Make sure you carry a raincoat to protect yourself from sudden rains. Its also crucial to bring confortable shoes if you would like to hike and if the weather seems unstable or rainy during the winter, bring some waterproof shoes or boots with good traction. Avoid packing flip flops or open-toe shoes as they do not provide adequate protection against the wild terrain. Moreover, bring a hat to protect yourself from the sun, and insect repellent to get rid of mosquitos.

Cabin amenities and packing tips

Before you head out to your cabin, it's a good idea to get a few things ready. Since the cabins are tucked away in nature, a bit of planning can make your trip even better. We suggest stopping by a grocery store beforehand to grab some ingredients for your meals.

Our cabins are set up to make sure you have a comfy and enjoyable stay. Here's what you can look forward to:

Fully equipped kitchen

Each cabin comes with a fully equipped kitchen, providing everything you need to prepare your meals. The kitchen includes a two-burner gas stove, a mini-fridge, knives, pans, a can opener, plates, bowls, a frying pan, and a saucepan. Essential cooking ingredients such as olive oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper are also provided. Additionally, there is an outdoor fire pit where you can cook your meals, complete with all the necessary equipment. However, please note that the outdoor cooking option is only allowed during the winter and autumn seasons to avoid uncontrolled fires.

Comfort essentials

You'll find bed linens, bath towels, books, music, board games,  and various amenities to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Storage space

There is ample room to store your luggage and personal items within the cabin. However, please note the following tips:

Food storage

Our refrigerators are bar-sized, so it's a good idea to bring just enough food for your stay. Also, it's best to avoid leaving food outside to keep the local wildlife from getting curious.

Cooking ingredients

We recommend buying some ingredients for cooking before your departure, as we are nestled in the heart of nature, and grocery stores might not be easily accessible.

Recipe recommendations

After your reservation is confirmed, you'll receive a guidebook with everything you need to know about your experience, and includes a recipe section with great cooking recommendations selected by our team to help you prepare. Additionally, if you want to get adventurous in the kitchen, the cabin is stocked with cooking books featuring great other recipes

Focus on bringing your personal items and some cooking essentials to ensure a delightful stay amidst nature.

How to spend my time in the nature

There's nothing quite like immersing yourself in nature and taking the time to venture in the wilderness. Exploring nature is a simple yet powerful way to boost your health and happiness by reducing stress, blood pressure, and heart rate. At Terracabins, we fully support spending time in nature. Here are some of our favorite ways on how to enjoy.

Go for a hike

Get your endorphins moving for and extra dose of stress relief by working out in nature. Soak up the natural beauty around you. Simply take a stroll through the trees will do wonders for your health and mindset. The Japanese tradition of forest bathing holds that simply being in the forest is a form of preventive health care. We have some great hiking trails for you. Just send us a text and we will send it to you right away.

Do some yoga

Take some time to stretch your body and perhaps do some yoga. Each cabin is equipped with our custom-made yoga mats, ready for you to use. Whether you're a seasoned yogi or just starting out, practicing yoga amidst the tranquility of nature can be incredibly rejuvenating. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings, breathe in the fresh air, and let your body and mind unwind. Yoga is a perfect way to enhance your connection with nature while promoting relaxation and well-being.

Listen to a playlist or a podcast

Sometimes there is nothing better than sitting and listening to a great playlist or podcast. Whether its an old classics you haven’t heard in a long time or you are taking the time to explore something new, our best tip is to download and save whatever your mind is craving before you head to the wild, so you can listen and enjoy completely offline. It’s a great way to relax, learn something new or just enjoy a bit of entertainment.

Read a nature guidebook

Take the opportunity to learn about the world around you and bring a book to learn about the different types of trees around you. Have fun identifying new aspects of nature to love and enjoy.

Just be

In the hustle and bustle of daily life we often forget the simple yet profound practice of just being. Taking time to slow down and simply exist in the moment can have remarkable benefits for our well-being.  Whether it´s sitting quietly in nature, meditating, or just taking a few deep breaths, allowing yourself to just be can really redce stress, improve mental clarity and bring a sense of peace. We encourage you to embrace these moments of stillness, to let go of the constant urge to do and instead, just be.

Enjoy cooking

You'll have plenty of time for yourself, so why not get adventurous in the kitchen? Take the time to cook your meals and rediscover the joy of cooking. In our fast-paced world, we are losing this valuable habit, overwhelmed by stress and information. With food delivery just a click away through apps like Uber Eats, many of us have drifted away from the kitchen.

Our kitchen is equipped for you to explore your culinary creativity. Each cabin is stocked with cookbooks featuring wonderful recipes. Additionally, our guidebook includes a selection of easy-to-make and delicious recipes. Just make sure to buy your ingredients before you head to your cabin.
